Gustan Asselbergs is a drummer and improviser from the Netherlands.
Brought up in a musical environment, Gustan Asselbergs started playing drums at an early age. After studying with different teachers he found his own musical path which led him to various collaborations, like Grondstoff and Labor. He recorded for film and did session work. Gustan's playing is characterized by a strong focus on touch, sound and a deep commitment to the acoustic flow. He beliefs that genres and traditions do matter, but never in a restrictive way. Be present, serve the music. Current projects include New Amsterdam Trio (with trombonist and counter tenor David Whitwell) and Roser/Moser/Asselbergs. Gustan holds a M.A. degree in philosophy and has been active as a writer as well. |
