Who am I?
Brought up in a musical environment, Gustan Asselbergs started playing drums at an early age. After studying with different teachers he found his own musical path which led him to various collaborations, like Grondstoff and Labor. Asselbergs recorded for film and did session work. His playing is characterised by a strong focus on touch, sound and a deep commitment to the acoustic flow. He beliefs that genres and traditions do matter, but never in a restrictive way. Be present, serve the music. Current projects include New Amsterdam Trio (with trombonist and counter tenor David Whitwell) and Roser/Moser/Asselbergs. Gustan Asselbergs hold a M.A. degree in philosophy and has been active as a writer as well. |
